Corrections

A wrong figure is a bug. This page says what happens to one, and lists the ones already made.

What counts as a correction

A correction is this site being wrong. A vendor changing its price is not a correction, it is the news, and it is published in what changed in AI with the vendor's own announcement attached. The difference matters, because collapsing the two would let every mistake be filed as a vendor's change of mind.

  • A figure that never matched the vendor page it cites.
  • A stamp naming a source that does not carry the figure it is stamped on.
  • A status word that was not what the feed reported at the time printed beside it.
  • A quoted limit reworded rather than reproduced.
  • A date that is not the date the check was made.

What happens to one

  1. The data file changes, and the data files are versioned, so every figure has a history.
  2. The stamp is re-read against the vendor page, so the correction carries a fresh check rather than a fresh assertion.
  3. The change is recorded with the date it was made, in the log on this page. It is not filed in what changed in AI, which records changes at the vendors and would let a mistake of ours pass as a vendor's change of mind.
  4. Where the mistake came from a rule rather than a slip, the rule is changed too, and the methodology page says so.

Nothing is silently overwritten. The point of a dated ledger is that a reader can tell what it said last week, and a correction that leaves no trace destroys the only thing that makes the rest of the tables worth reading.

Reporting one

Corrections are the most useful thing a reader can send. The contact page says how to reach the publisher and what to include: the address of the page, the figure as it appears here with the date stamped under it, and the vendor page that says something different.

The log

None recorded yet. No figure published here has yet been found to be wrong. The site is young, so that is a statement about how little time has passed rather than a claim about how careful it is, and this section exists so that the first correction has somewhere to be published rather than somewhere to be added.

What this page does not cover

A figure going stale is not a mistake, and it is not corrected. Vendors change prices, limits and plan names without notice, so every table says when it was last checked and the age is the reader's to judge. The terms put the same thing formally: a figure here is a record of what a vendor page said at a moment, not a guarantee of what it says now.
