Generative AI newsletter: the weekly briefing

What changed in AI, once a week, with the vendor's own page attached to every claim.

What the briefing is

Once a week, everything that changed at the AI vendors is collected into one piece a person can read in a sitting. Prices that moved, limits that changed, models that arrived or were retired, and the regulatory decisions that touch what a service is allowed to do. Each one carries the vendor's own announcement as the receipt, and a plain sentence about what it means for somebody paying the bill.

It is assembled from the same dated stream that fills what changed in AI during the week, so the briefing never says anything the individual items do not already carry a source for. Nothing in it is rewritten from another publisher: the rule against aggregators is on the methodology page and it applies here too.

What changed in AI: week ending October 24, 2026

Nothing this week carries a deadline a reader has to beat, so the thing to take from it is a shift already underway: AI compute kept leaving the data center for the car and the laptop, chat assistants kept folding into the back office of small businesses, and a thick run of new papers kept finding that an agent's confidence, honesty and benchmark score move independently of each other, which matters most to anyone who has started trusting a single number to stand in for all three.

It covers ChatGPT and Gemini.

Read the whole issue. Each week keeps its own address, and the current one also opens what changed in AI, above the dated items it was built from.

How to get it

The feed carries every item as it is published and every briefing as it closes. It asks for no address, sets no cookie and can be read in any feed reader or pasted into most chat clients. Every page on this site advertises it in the head, so a reader who has a feed reader installed can subscribe from any of them.

An email edition is planned and is not open. When a sending service is chosen, a sign up goes here first and the privacy page is updated before a single address is collected, not after. Until then this page says so rather than showing a box that would quietly fail.

What it is not

  • It is not a roundup of other publishers' articles. Sources are the vendors' own pages.
  • It is not a recommendation. The site does not rank services or say which to buy.
  • It is not a rumour digest. Nothing appears until a vendor or a regulator has published it.
  • It carries no paid placement, and no vendor sees it before it is published.

The rest of the site

The briefing is the weekly view. The dated ledger behind it is always open: live status, plans and limits and API prices, each figure stamped with the vendor page it was read from and the time of the reading. Who writes all of it is on the byline page.
