What it means for you
For a team paying per seat, the model lineup shift means the input and output rates a budget was built around nine months ago now sit on a legacy page, so anyone copying last quarter's per-token math into a forecast should check which model name that math still describes before renewing a contract. The Cowork rename also means any internal documentation, procurement form or support ticket that still names Cowork as a separate product is describing something the vendor itself has folded into a single brand, which is a small but real source of confusion for a buyer comparing tools across teams.
In more detail
Anthropic’s pricing page has moved past its previous generation of Claude models. Where the page once listed Sonnet 5, Opus 5 and Haiku 4.5 as the current line, those names now sit under a legacy models heading, and the top of the page shows Fable 5.1, Opus 5.5, Sonnet 5.5 and Haiku 5.5 as the models a new API account would reach for by default. Each carries its own input, output and prompt caching rates, and the gap between the newest and the legacy tiers is not small: Opus 5.5 lists input at $4 per million tokens against $5 for Opus 5, while Haiku 5.5 splits its rate by prompt length in a way the legacy Haiku 4.5 entry does not.
The subscription side of the page reads differently. Pro still lists at $17 a month with an annual discount, or $20 if billed monthly, and Max still starts at $100 a month with a choice of five times or twenty times the usage of Pro. Those figures match what the page has shown for some time, so the subscription tiers themselves have not moved. What has changed on that same page is the product name sitting above the plan cards: a banner now states that Claude Cowork is now just Claude, rolling out first to Pro and Max subscribers, with the page noting more plans to follow.
Team and Enterprise pricing is unchanged in its basic shape, a seat price plus usage billed at API rates, with Enterprise still quoted at $20 per seat per month on a twenty seat minimum. The FAQ section answers the same billing and cancellation questions it did before, with upgrades crediting unused time and downgrades taking effect at the end of a billing period.
The numbers
- Pro: $17 a month with the annual discount, $200 billed up front, or $20 if billed monthly.
- Max: from $100 a month, with five times or twenty times the usage of Pro.
- Opus 5.5 input: $4 per million tokens, against $5 for the legacy Opus 5.
- Enterprise: $20 per seat per month, billed annually, with a twenty seat minimum.
The practical effect for a reader comparing Claude’s API rates against a prior capture is that the model names, not the plan prices, are what moved this time.
