Diagram drawn for this item: Gemini App Adds Immersive Explorations For Student Hub Users. On October 28, 2026, Google said the Gemini app now carries a library of immersive explorations, reachable from the student hub by selecting Try immersive explorations, with direct access from a chat conversation coming later. A feature tucked inside a student hub rather than the main chat box is easy to miss, so a parent or teacher checking what a child's account can do has one more place to look before judging whether the tool suits a classroom task.
What it means for you
A feature tucked inside a student hub rather than the main chat box is easy to miss, so a parent or teacher checking what a child's account can do has one more place to look before judging whether the tool suits a classroom task.
In more detail
Google has opened a new library inside the Gemini app called immersive explorations, aimed squarely at students using the app’s student hub. The company said on October 28, 2026 that the library lets a learner move through a topic layer by layer, from a wide view down to fine detail, inside one visual scene rather than through a back and forth chat exchange. Examples Google named include tracing trade routes, looking inside a jet engine and studying the physics of lightning, with each scene built so a learner can tap a label to go deeper, moving from planetary scale down toward molecules and atoms.
The feature currently sits inside the student hub and is reached by selecting Try immersive explorations there. Google said it will soon also be reachable directly from a normal chat conversation with Gemini, folding the format into the main app rather than keeping it behind a separate hub. The company also said audio narration is planned, which would turn the scenes into a guided walkthrough rather than a self directed click path.
Availability is limited for now. Google said the feature works for all users in English, Indonesian, Hindi, Brazilian Portuguese, French and simplified Chinese, while people using any other language currently get an English only version of the experience, with more languages promised later.
The numbers
Google named six supported languages for the feature at launch: English, Indonesian, Hindi, Brazilian Portuguese, French and simplified Chinese. Everyone outside those languages is served an English only version until further languages are added, which the announcement does not date.
For a school or a parent weighing whether to point a student at Gemini rather than a textbook or a dedicated learning app, the detail that matters is where the feature lives today. It sits inside a student hub, not the main chat window, so a learner or a teacher comparing tools has to open that specific hub to find it before deciding whether the visual, layered format suits a given assignment, rather than assuming any Gemini conversation already includes it. The promised move into ordinary chat and the planned narration would change that calculation again once they ship, but neither is live yet.
